MVA: The Minimum Viable Activity That Builds Maximum Momentum

MVA is the daily discipline that transforms chaos into compounding momentum, one non-negotiable action at a time.

The Problem with Burnout and Inconsistency

Are you dealing with problems in your business?

Are they problems of growth?

Profitability?

Culture?

When a business starts identifying recurring challenges, it’s essential to move from awareness to execution, fast. Having a compelling vision is important, but let’s be honest: most businesses don’t fail due to a lack of vision. They fail due to inconsistency in the small, daily actions that actually move the needle.

When these actions go unmeasured and unexecuted, frustration sets in. Then burnout. Then chaos. I’ve called this condition Anarchy by Default, and it’s more common than anyone wants to admit.

What Is MVA (Minimum Viable Activity)?

Great — another acronym, right?

Well, this one matters. So pay attention.

Minimum Viable Activity (MVA) is the smallest set of consistent, non-negotiable actions that move your business forward. Inspired by the startup term Minimum Viable Product (MVP), MVA doesn’t apply to what you launch, it applies to what you do every day.

And here’s the raw truth: I’ve ignored this principle more times than I can count. But not anymore. Going into 2025, I’ve elevated MVA to a top priority in my playbook, for myself and for my clients.

Why MVA Matters More Than Big Moves

If you’ve read "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, you already know: success doesn’t come from giant leaps. It comes from consistent reps.

MVA builds discipline. It builds data. It builds momentum you can measure.

Without tracking these key daily actions, your business will default to being reactive. You’ll feel busy, but you won’t be building. And worse, you won’t be able to make informed decisions.

MVA is the ultimate antidote to chaos, and the foundation for scalable growth.

The MVA Glossary: Terms That Keep You Moving

Here are some critical activity categories to help you identify what your MVA could look like:

Revenue-Generating Activities (RGA) – Cold outreach, proposals sent, sales follow-ups

Visibility Actions – Social content, podcast appearances, case study sharing

Customer Nurture – Personal check-ins, retention offers, client satisfaction follow-ups

Operational Consistency – Daily KPI review, dashboard updates, SOP adherence

Learning & Development – 30 minutes of market research, AI testing, team debriefs

How to Define Your MVA: A 3-Step Process

List Your Growth Levers: What actions have historically moved your business forward?

Pick Your Core 3: Choose three minimum daily actions you will commit to.

Measure Your Streak: Track your consistency using a visual habit tracker or digital dashboard.

Examples of MVA Based on My Business:

Post 1 value-driven piece of content daily on LinkedIn.

Send 5 personalized outreach messages or follow-ups to prospects.

Review daily metrics for proposals, revenue, and lead flow.

These are small, manageable, but stacked over time, they drive massive results.

Why I’m Betting on MVA in 2025 and Beyond

Let’s cut the noise, competition is everywhere. If there's demand, there’s competition.

The separator?

Momentum.

In an overcrowded market, momentum beats marketing. MVA gives you the edge. It turns strategy into action, and action into dominance.

This isn’t optional anymore, it’s essential. MVA is now part of my personal system and the frameworks I install with clients.

If you're serious about building long-term traction in your business, this is where it starts.
